Man in His 40s Detained and Referred to Prosecution After Armed Restaurant Robbery and Theft
Premeditation Suspected in the Crime
A man in his 40s was arrested in Daejeon after entering a restaurant armed with a weapon, threatening the owner, and fleeing with valuables.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Daejeon Seobu Police Station announced on the 29th that a man in his 40s, identified as A, has been detained and referred to the prosecution on charges of aggravated robbery.
On October 4 at around 12:30 a.m., A allegedly entered a restaurant in Seo-gu, Daejeon, brandished a weapon he had prepared in advance to threaten the owner, and stole valuables including jewelry worn by the owner and about 8 million won in cash from the register before fleeing the scene.
Before committing the crime, A reportedly entered restaurants where women were working alone and asked about closing hours, apparently searching for a target. After the robbery, he changed into clothes he had prepared in advance and escaped by taxi, indicating that the crime was premeditated.

The police tracked A using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and arrested him at a bar in South Chungcheong Province on October 5, one day after the crime. According to the police investigation, A has multiple previous convictions for similar offenses. He reportedly told police that he planned the crime because he needed living expenses while on probation.
