The FTX is a full-scale exercise simulating real-life scenarios, carried out to assess the seamless cooperation system among related agencies. Major organizations, including the Presidential Security Service, the National Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the military, the police, the coast guard, and the fire department, participated in the drill.
The exercise took place over two days, on the 25th and 27th, in the Gyeongju and Busan areas. On the 25th, a mobility drill was held to ensure the safety and movement of the leaders of 21 member countries. The final inspection covered the entire process, from securing safety upon entry into Korean airspace, arrival at the airport, to transportation to accommodations and the summit venue, including vehicle routes, security lines, and emergency response procedures.
On the 27th, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies, the overall security and safety measures at key event sites, such as the summit venue and the welcome banquet hall, were reviewed. Through this process, the immediate response system and situation reporting procedures in the event of unexpected incidents were reconfirmed. With this, the Security and Safety Control Unit has completed preparations for security and safety at the Gyeongju APEC Summit.
