Namyangju's Culture Protected by Citizens: "Namyangju Cultural Center Culture Guardian Workshop" Successfully Concludes
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) held the "Citizen Culture Guardian Member Capacity Building Workshop" at the Namyangju Cultural Center on the 27th.

View original imageThe Citizen Culture Guardians is a group in which citizens who love Namyangju's history and culture voluntarily participate, strengthening their capabilities and networking through activities such as local cultural heritage tours. Currently, 100 members are actively engaged in the group.
This workshop was organized to enhance the professionalism and activity capabilities of the Citizen Culture Guardians for the development of Namyangju's culture. More than 40 people attended, including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, Namyangju Cultural Center Director Kim Gyeongdon, executives of the Cultural Center, and members of the Citizen Culture Guardians.
The first part of the event featured a congratulatory performance by the Namyangju City Choir, an awards ceremony, welcoming remarks, and congratulatory speeches. Notably, members Shin Dongwon and Park Youngsook were selected as outstanding culture guardians and received commendations from the Cultural Center Director, further energizing the atmosphere at the event.
The second part included a special lecture by travel writer Yoo Jian, titled "Sixty: Meeting Art and Culture with a Backpack," which received an enthusiastic response from participants. Yoo Jian shared stories of diverse cultures and arts experienced while backpacking through 31 countries at the age of 60, and conveyed ways to discover culture in everyday life and enrich one's own life. Afterwards, participants shared their own cultural activity experiences during a free discussion session.

View original imageThe city plans to use this workshop as an opportunity to further strengthen the capabilities of the Citizen Culture Guardians and continue providing various forms of support to encourage ongoing voluntary cultural participation. In addition, the city will establish a foundation for local culture to take root and grow, centered around the Cultural Center, with the goal of realizing "Namyangju, a cultural city created by its citizens."
