National Team's An Seonghyun and Kim Minsu Tie for 7th at AAC

National team players An Seonghyun (Shinseong High School) and Kim Minsu (Howon High School Affiliated Broadcasting and Communication High School) tied for 7th place at the 16th Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Championship (AAC).

On October 26 (local time), An Seonghyun shot an even-par 72 in the final fourth round at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, finishing with a total score of 9-under-par 279. After winning the R&A Junior Open in Scotland in July of last year, An Seonghyun aimed to become the first Korean player in 12 years to win the AAC since Lee Changwoo in 2013, but was unable to achieve the feat.

Kim Minsu, who won the Heo Jeonggu Cup Korea Amateur Championship earlier this September, carded a 4-under-par round to also tie for 7th place. Kang Seunggu (Namseong High School) finished tied for 53rd with a score of 12-over-par 300.

The championship title went to Thailand’s Phiphat Lao Pakdee, who shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final round to finish at 15-under-par 273. After tying with Nagasaki Taisei (Japan), Lao Pakdee secured victory in the third playoff, earning invitations to both the Masters and The Open.

This tournament is co-hosted by Augusta National Golf Club, the R&A, and the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation. Male amateur players from the Asia-Pacific region compete, and the winner receives invitations to the following year’s major tournaments, the Masters and The Open. The next AAC will be held in October next year at Te Arai Links in Tomarata, New Zealand.
