Busan-Gyeongnam Administrative Integration: Citizens Step Up... Busan Launches Supporters Group
66 Citizens Appointed as Supporters
First Step Toward Expanding Public Consensus
A group of supporters, comprised of citizens who will promote and participate in the administrative integration of Busan and Gyeongnam, is being launched.
The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced that it will hold an inauguration ceremony for the 'Busan-Gyeongnam Administrative Integration Supporters' on the afternoon of the 27th in the small conference room on the 12th floor of Busan City Hall.
This group of supporters was formed to broaden the base of citizen participation and support for a bottom-up, region-led administrative integration. After a public recruitment process that took place over the past month, 66 individuals were selected and will receive their appointment letters today, officially beginning their activities.
Participants include a diverse range of ages and professions, from university students in their 20s to citizens in their 70s. They will learn about the necessity and vision of administrative integration and play a direct role in promoting it. The city plans to provide accurate information about administrative integration and present its future vision through on-site resident briefings, operating booths at various events, and customized promotional activities in areas such as the economy and tourism.
Additionally, the supporters will use their personal social media channels to post self-produced content, aiming to expand online consensus regarding administrative integration.
The inauguration ceremony will proceed in the following order: presentation of appointment letters, commemorative photography, an explanation of the progress of administrative integration and a special lecture, followed by an activity briefing and a Q&A session. Jeon Ho-hwan, Co-Chairman of the Busan-Gyeongnam Administrative Integration Public Discussion Committee, will attend in person to explain the progress and deliver a special lecture on the blueprint for integration.
