Besent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, to Visit Korea Next Week Accompanying Trump
Scott Besent, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, will accompany President Donald Trump on his visit to South Korea.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on the 23rd (local time) that "Secretary Besent will visit Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea together with President Trump."
On the same day, the White House announced that President Trump will visit South Korea from the 29th to the 30th and hold a summit with President Lee Jaemyung. He will also hold a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. Prior to that, he will visit Malaysia and Japan.
The Treasury Department stated that during the visit to Malaysia, Secretary Besent will meet with He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council of China, to discuss U.S.-China trade issues. He is also scheduled to attend the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In Tokyo, Japan, Secretary Besent will accompany President Trump for his state visit itinerary.
