Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation Launches "Ddokbus" in Maehwa-dong, Siheung... Improved Commute Expected for Maehwa Industrial Complex
Pilot Operation Begins on October 27, Official Launch on November 1
Service Covers Maehwa-dong, Sincheon Station, and Gyeonggi Automotive Science High School
Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced on October 24 that it will begin a pilot operation of the "Ddokbus" in the Maehwa-dong area of Siheung City starting October 27, with official service set to launch on November 1.
The Ddokbus in Siheung City will begin its first operation in the Maehwa-dong area. The service will run in Maehwa-dong as well as between Sincheon Station and Gyeonggi Automotive Science High School, aiming to strengthen the transportation network between major hubs and support the mobility of local residents.
In particular, the Maehwa Industrial Complex, located within the service area, previously lacked a route entering its premises, making commuting difficult for workers. With the introduction of the Ddokbus, a more convenient commuting infrastructure is expected to be established.
The service will utilize five 11-seater Solati vehicles, operating daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with ride requests accepted until 10:00 p.m.
As Gyeonggi Province's city bus fares are adjusted on October 25, the fare for the Ddokbus will match the standard city bus fare when using a transportation card: 1,650 won for adults, 1,160 won for teenagers, and 830 won for children. The integrated metropolitan area transfer discount will also apply.
To use the Ddokbus, passengers can enter their departure and arrival points in the "Ddokta" app to call a Ddokbus in real time and receive information on the boarding location and vehicle. For those who have difficulty using the app, Ddokbus can also be requested by phone.
Min Kyungseon, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, "We expect the Ddokbus in Siheung City will greatly improve commuting for students and workers," adding, "Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation will continue to do its utmost to ensure residents have access to convenient and safe transportation services."
