SMBC Leads Restoration of Chungbuk Secondary Battery Industry through Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation
Full-Scale Launch of Talent Development and Employment Linkages
with Chungbuk Health & Science University and Chungbuk Federation of SME Convergence Associations
The Small and Medium Business Corporation announced on October 24, 2025, that it has signed a 'Business Agreement for the Restoration of the Secondary Battery Value Chain in the Chungbuk Region' with Chungbuk Health & Science University and the Chungbuk Federation of SME Convergence Associations.
This agreement was initiated to address the labor shortage facing secondary battery companies in the Chungbuk region and to support the restoration of the value chain, amid global supply chain uncertainties in the secondary battery industry caused by trade conflicts between the United States and China. Through this initiative, the aim is to help the region become a key hub for the secondary battery industry, encompassing production, exports, research, and workforce development. The main areas of cooperation include: ▲ Operation of joint industry-academia-government programs to restore the secondary battery value chain ▲On-site training and experiential programs in connection with outstanding local small and medium-sized enterprises ▲Opening of educational and research facilities owned by each institution ▲And strengthening employment linkages within the region.
In particular, the Small and Medium Business Corporation plans to provide comprehensive support ranging from startup incubation to job placement through initiatives such as the Youth Startup Academy, the Corporate Workforce Support Center, and the K-Work employment matching platform dedicated to foreign students. Chungbuk Health & Science University will focus on practical education through its Bootcamp Project Group to cultivate talent tailored to company needs, while the Chungbuk Federation of SME Convergence Associations will concentrate on providing on-site experience opportunities and supporting workforce recruitment for secondary battery SMEs.
