They shared the operational direction of the autonomous public high school and the 2026 freshman curriculum.
Namhan High School was officially selected for the Ministry of Education's 'Autonomous Public High School 2.0' program on August 27. With this designation, Namhan High School will operate as an autonomous public high school starting in 2026, applying academic system exceptions such as non-graded classes and early admission/early graduation. The school will also be able to independently run advanced curricula on par with specialized and private high schools. In addition, it plans to implement personalized career-oriented education for each student, promote an AI-based learning environment, and launch regionally connected innovative programs such as the 'Hanam Life Lab.'
To ensure flexible and detailed operation as an autonomous public high school, Namhan High School will receive an annual budget of 200 million won each from the Ministry of Education and the Office of Education for five years, totaling 1 billion won.
Hanam City will also work closely with the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education and Namhan High School to improve local educational conditions and continue administrative and financial support necessary for customized curricula that drive public education innovation.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae stated, "I sincerely congratulate Namhan High School, the oldest school in Hanam, on its new leap forward as an autonomous public high school. We will spare no effort to ensure that Namhan High School becomes a new milestone for public education in Hanam and a source of pride for our community."
