Muju County to Open 'Muju Firefly Market Night Market' Starting on the 24th
Held Four Times on Fridays and Saturdays Until November 1
"Revitalizing the Local Economy and Traditional Markets"
Muju County in North Jeolla Province will hold the 'Muju Firefly Market Night Market' at the circular plaza of Muju Firefly Market from October 24 to November 1.
According to the county on October 23, the event has been organized to revitalize the local economy and traditional markets. It is hosted by Muju County and co-organized by the Muju-eup Commercial District Revitalization Promotion Team (headed by Choi Eunyoung) and the Muju Firefly Market Merchants Association (chaired by Park Yongsik).
The night market will take place a total of four times, every Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be snack and food booths, as well as hands-on craft experiences. The 'Diligent Shopping' event will also be held, in which customers who spend over 50,000 won will receive a 10,000-won Muju Love Gift Certificate, and those who spend over 100,000 won will receive a 20,000-won certificate (one entry per person, maximum 20,000 won in gift certificates).
From 6:00 p.m., there will be performances by acoustic guitar and trot singers, a karaoke session for residents, and dance time, offering opportunities for community bonding. Notably, on the opening day, October 24, comedian Shim Hyungrae will make a special appearance, and on October 31, singer Jin Simon will provide a memorable autumn night experience.
Kim Younggwang, head of the county's local economy team, stated, "The Muju Firefly Market Night Market will offer families a chance to shop smartly and enjoy a pleasant weekend evening together under the autumn sky. If you are planning a trip to Muju, I hope you will stop by and experience the warmth and relaxation of a rural marketplace."
Meanwhile, Muju Firefly Market is the representative traditional five-day market of Muju County. It serves as a model for other markets, with an Onnuri Gift Certificate merchant participation rate, number of registered businesses, and country of origin and price labeling rates all exceeding 80%.
