The event aimed to explore ways to return to the essence of a humane life through books, amidst the excessive consumption of information and isolated human relationships in modern society. Through a variety of reading experiences, book talks, and cultural performances, the festival offered citizens the joy of reading and a wealth of attractions.
In particular, a range of engaging programs drew continuous participation from citizens, including book talks on “The Cat’s Swimming Class” by author Shin Hyunkyung and “The Way We Survived the Winter” by author Moon Misoon, both selected as Gwangju City’s Books of the Year. Other popular activities included a collaborative transcription of “100 Selections of Forest Literature” in the main area, personal book recommendations, making small healing items, and hands-on booths related to the Book of the Year.
