K Bank announced on October 20 that it held its in-house AI prompt competition, 'K/THON 25', to internalize AI capabilities among employees and drive innovation in work processes.

The Prompt-thon competition is a portmanteau of "prompt" and "hackathon." It is a contest where participants design prompts (commands) that can be practically applied to real work using generative AI, and discover innovative use cases. Anyone can participate as long as they have an understanding of generative AI and ideas, without the need for complex coding or development skills.

K Bank organized this competition to explore the practical applicability of generative AI technology in work and to strengthen the organization’s overall AI utilization capabilities. In particular, the bank aimed to provide employees with hands-on experience in actively designing prompts and leveraging AI.

A total of 43 teams, comprising about 160 employees, participated in the competition, reflecting a high level of interest in generative AI.

Not only developers but also employees from various departments-such as planning, finance, risk, and customer support-took part. Participation spanned generations and roles, from new hires recently converted from interns to senior employees with extensive experience.

Of the 43 teams that entered, 8 teams were selected through a review process to participate in a prompt engineering session on October 16, and on October 17, they presented their AI-based work innovation ideas.

The ideas presented included: an AI agent for automatic numerical analysis and volatility detection in financial data reports; a UX learning writing assistant agent; an AI-supported solution for pseudonymizing customer consultation data; and an in-house training auto-reminder and aggregation agent. These proposals drew attention as practical use cases that could be immediately implemented in the workplace to enhance operational efficiency.

K Bank plans to further develop the ideas presented during the competition and apply them to actual work, aiming to boost both work efficiency and productivity, while also strengthening the use of AI across the organization.

Additionally, in September, K Bank held an internal event called 'AI CON (Concert)' for all employees, sharing AI strategies and the latest trends to enhance employees’ understanding of AI and promote a culture of AI utilization.

A K Bank representative stated, "We are providing a wide range of support to ensure employees can actively leverage AI and lead innovation in their work," adding, "We will continue to expand AI education and practical training opportunities to further enhance employees’ AI capabilities and strengthen our digital competitiveness."
