Korea Investment Global AI & Semiconductor TOP10 Fund Posts Strong One-Year Returns
Korea Investment Management announced on October 20 that the Korea Investment Global AI & Semiconductor TOP10 Fund ranked first in one-year returns among public funds investing in artificial intelligence (AI).
According to FnGuide, the Korea Investment Global AI & Semiconductor TOP10 Fund USD (A-e Class) recorded a one-year return of 55.30%. It ranked first among overseas equity information technology (IT) sector funds of the same type. During the same period, it outperformed the average return of similar funds, which was 28.52%, by 26.78 percentage points. Over a six-month period, the return was 67.47%, also higher than the average return of 41.49% for funds of the same type during that time.
The Korea Investment Global AI & Semiconductor TOP10 Fund is a product that focuses on investing in ten leading global companies in the AI and semiconductor industries. In addition to the USD type, which allows direct investment in US dollars, the fund is also available in a currency-hedged (H) type to mitigate exchange rate risk, and a currency-unhedged (UH) type that reflects currency returns, depending on investment objectives. The total net asset value of the entire series stands at 662.7 billion won, making it the largest among domestic public funds with "AI" as a keyword in their product names.
As of October 1, the fund's top holdings included: NVIDIA (9.48%), TSMC (8.66%), Alphabet (Google) (8.46%), Broadcom (8.28%), Meta (7.79%), SK Hynix (6.90%), Amazon (6.70%), Microsoft (6.51%), Tesla (5.87%), and ARM (5.51%).
Choi Mingyu, Head of Global Equity Management at Korea Investment Management, stated, "According to the second quarter earnings announcements of big tech companies this year, most companies exceeded market expectations." He added, "AI contributed to their main business segments, leading many companies to achieve double-digit revenue growth, and the revenue growth rate for each company was proportional to its ability to monetize AI."
He continued, "Global big tech companies are continuously expanding their AI infrastructure investments (CAPEX) based on their capital strength. At the same time, a virtuous cycle is being formed as billions of big tech service users generate data."
