National Assembly Trade Committee Withdraws Chung Yongjin, Shinsegae Chairman, as Audit Witness
The National Assembly’s Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee decided on October 17 not to summon Chung Yongjin, Chairman of Shinsegae Group, as a witness for the parliamentary audit.
Kim Sungwon, a member of the People Power Party, had initially requested Chairman Chung as a witness for the audit, but withdrew the request, stating that "the reason for the request has been resolved."

Previously, Assemblyman Kim had applied for Chairman Chung to be a witness in order to verify concerns about security, such as consumer information protection, regarding the establishment of a joint venture between Gmarket, a Shinsegae Group affiliate, and Aliexpress of China’s Alibaba Group.
