On October 17, special prosecutor Park Ji-young stated at a regular briefing, "We are not saying that we will summon her for questioning," and added, "The purpose is to conduct an investigation and obtain her statement, so we will fully take into account the wishes of the person being questioned regarding the method and schedule of the investigation."
Assemblywoman Kim expressed her intention to cooperate with the investigation to the special prosecutor team the previous day, and as a result, the team withdrew its request to the court for pretrial witness examination.
On the same day, the special prosecutor team questioned Mr. Lee, a senior deputy director in the floor leader's office of the People Power Party, as a reference witness. Mr. Lee has been working in the floor leader's office since the tenure of former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho.
Recently, the special prosecutor team has been summoning People Power Party officials to determine the circumstances under which former floor leader Chu convened lawmakers at the party headquarters during the period of martial law.
