Honam University to Host "Eodeung Festival" with Local Residents on the 29th
Honam University announced on October 17 that it will host the Honam University Eodeung Festival "Romantic Lotus" from October 29 to 31. The three-day event will take place on a special stage set up at the university's natural grass sports field, where students and local residents can enjoy performances by famous Korean singers and a fireworks show together.
This year's festival features a stellar lineup of top-tier Korean artists, promising a vibrant stage. The male ballad trio Soonsoonhee, Zion.T, Shin Yeyoung, TripleS, and Chungha are scheduled to deliver high-quality performances around 8 p.m. each evening. On October 31 at 9 p.m., an EDM party and fireworks display are also planned.
The festival will kick off on October 29 with an opening ceremony, followed by a congratulatory performance from the Honam University cheerleading squad DRP, guest performances by teams from Gwangju University and Korea Institute of Energy Technology, and the Romantic Song Festival. A fireworks show will also be held, designed so that not only students but also residents of the nearby Seonun District can enjoy the festivities. Before the opening ceremony, Choi Sunghak, a sophomore in the Life Sports Track at Honam University Dream Life College, will attempt to set a new world record for pull-ups using only his middle fingers in a surprise event.
In addition to performances, a variety of food spaces will be available. Students will run their own food booths, international students will offer global cuisine experiences, and a diverse food truck zone will come together to provide plenty of entertainment and memorable moments.
Kim Jinwoo, president of the student council, said, "I hope this festival, which brings together school members and local residents as one, will provide a chance to relieve the accumulated stress from studies and daily life, and serve as an opportunity to promote the university's openness and community spirit."
