Mayor Baek Kyunghyun: "Additional Stop at Galmae Station on GTX-B Is the Only Solution to Galmae Area's Traffic Problems"
Mayor Baek Kyunghyun of Guri Meets Vice Minister Kang Heeup
Requests Prompt Confirmation of Additional Stop at Galmae Station on GTX-B Line
Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced on the 16th that on the previous day, Mayor Baek Kyunghyun met with Kang Heeup, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, at his office in the Sejong Government Complex to request the prompt confirmation of the additional stop at Galmae Station on the GTX-B line to improve metropolitan transportation in the Galmae area.

Additionally, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated in its public notice on the results of collecting residents' consent and reflecting opinions regarding the environmental impact assessment of the privately invested GTX-B line project in the Seoul metropolitan area that "if an agreement is reached for an additional stop on a cost-bearing basis, the ministry will actively cooperate for the additional stop at Galmae Station on the GTX-B line."
In response, Guri City strongly requested that the additional stop at Galmae Station on the GTX-B line be included in the feasibility study currently being conducted by the Korea National Railway, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
At the meeting, Mayor Baek Kyunghyun emphasized, "It is highly unreasonable from the perspective of transportation convenience for Guri citizens that there is no stop at Galmae Station, even though Guri City plans to bear approximately 40 billion won in GTX-B construction costs. Currently, National Route 47 (Gyeongchunbuk-ro) suffers from severe congestion during commuting hours, with its road service level rated at grade E. Furthermore, with the Galmae Station Area and Wangsuk District scheduled for completion in 2028, a traffic crisis is inevitable. The additional stop at Galmae Station on the GTX-B line is the only fundamental solution to resolve the transportation difficulties."
