Chuncheon City: "No Illegal Camping at Samaksan Observatory"...Promoting Proper Hiking Culture
Chuncheon City Steps Up Management
Additional Signs Installed to Ban Camping and Cooking
Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Yuk Donghan) has decided to strengthen guidance on camping bans and on-site management following recent incidents of illegal camping and cooking at the summit observatory of Samaksan. This measure aims to prevent safety accidents and establish a healthy culture of use.
The city will first install additional signs prohibiting camping and cooking around the Samaksan observatory and the entrance to the hiking trails. Inside the observatory, safety facilities will be set up to prevent the installation of illegal tents and to maintain order in the space.
Starting next month, the city will launch a "Joint Wildfire Prevention Campaign," promoting proper hiking practices to visitors, including bans on the use of fire, carrying out one's trash, and observing etiquette while exploring the area.
