Edgefoundry Emerges as a Key Partner in the Global Infant Healthcare Market
On October 16, Edgefoundry announced that its technological capabilities are drawing attention as Mtake, a specialist in AI monitoring systems, has launched pre-sales of the Mom-i, a healthcare camera for infant sleep separation, simultaneously in Korea and North America. Edgefoundry was responsible for the joint development and manufacturing of the product.
The key differentiator of Mom-i lies in its "non-contact method." Unlike conventional wearable solutions, it allows for precise monitoring of an infant's breathing, fever, and sleep status without attaching any device to the baby. This is made possible by Edgefoundry's advanced infrared thermal imaging sensor. As the only domestic company specializing in mass-produced uncooled IR sensors, Edgefoundry has expanded its application from the B2B market to the B2C healthcare sector with this product, marking significant industrial progress.
In particular, Mom-i is equipped with built-in Black Body technology, featuring an integrated heat emitter that enables precise measurement unaffected by external environmental changes. This overcomes the limitations of typical thermal imaging sensors, which are prone to errors due to sensitivity to ambient temperature fluctuations. The technology is based on four patented innovations registered in Korea and the United States. Since sensor stability and reliability are directly linked to product competitiveness in the global infant healthcare device market, Edgefoundry's technological collaboration is a core factor supporting Mom-i's unique value proposition.
The domestically produced sensors supplied by Edgefoundry not only deliver high-precision performance but also offer price competitiveness, making product popularization possible. In terms of security, a multi-layered security system has been implemented to protect against data hacking threats, achieving global standards of reliability.
An industry insider commented, "While Mtake has entered the market with a consumer product, Edgefoundry has made an indirect entry into the global healthcare market through its core component technology. This case serves as an important signal that domestic sensor companies can expand beyond industrial applications into markets closely connected to everyday life."
