At each session, the company introduces outstanding technologies owned by domestic universities, research institutes, and companies to its partner companies and conducts technology consultations, aiming to help partners discover future growth engines and secure new technologies. Since 2023, the event has been further expanded through a "business agreement to strengthen the industry-academia-research technology cooperation ecosystem" signed with COMPA, KISTA, and the Hyupsunghoe (the council of Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display partner companies).
This year's presentation was attended by over 250 participants, including executives and researchers from 104 partner companies and 45 technology cooperation organizations. The event was held under the themes of artificial intelligence (AI), smart manufacturing, technology protection, and industrial safety, selected based on a prior survey of partner companies' technology needs.
The event began with special lectures by Samsung Electronics and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The topics focused on recent industry interests, such as productivity innovation using AI and technology protection. Samsung Electronics presented cases of improving work productivity and strengthening competitiveness through AI under the theme of "AI-based Productivity Innovation Cases." Examples included the use of in-house AI coding assistants throughout the software development process and the partial automation and operational efficiency improvements in global call centers using AI customer service chatbots.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups delivered a special lecture on "Policies and Support Systems to Strengthen Technology Protection for SMEs." This drew significant attention for providing practical support content that could help partner companies secure technological competitiveness and strengthen their technology protection systems from their perspective.
A total of 111 outstanding technologies, including smart manufacturing using AI and robotics, as well as next-generation materials, processes, and environmental technologies, were introduced on-site. Of these, 20 representative technologies were explained in detail through presentations, helping participating companies better understand industrial technology trends and required technologies.
Samsung Electronics and the participating organizations set up dedicated booths to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises to actively utilize various technology support programs and provided tailored consultation opportunities. At its own booth, Samsung Electronics offered free transfers of 253 patents in the fields of display, mobile, home appliances, communications, and networks, and provided consultations on ESG funds for partner companies.
Since 2015, Samsung Electronics has been opening up its patents for free, allowing not only partner companies but also non-affiliated companies to use them freely. As of last year, more than 2,300 patents had been transferred free of charge.
Additionally, since last year, the company has established a "Partner Company ESG Fund" to provide interest-free loans for ESG investments, such as improving workplace environmental safety and reducing energy consumption at partner companies' business sites.
There were also presentations on technologies held by COMPA and KISTA, consultations on government R&D support programs, the technology escrow system of the Foundation for Large, Small and Medium Business, Agriculture and Fisheries Cooperation, and technology finance from KB Kookmin Bank.
