Accelerating the Global Expansion of K-Design

The Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) announced on October 16 that it will operate the "Korean Design Pavilion" at the 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), which will be held in Guangzhou, China, for five days from October 15 to 19.

The Canton Fair is the largest trade exhibition in China, held twice a year as the Spring Fair (April to May) and Autumn Fair (October to November). It is regarded as a hub for trade, where buyers and global companies from around the world gather to explore and share the latest technologies and trends across all industries.

This autumn exhibition will be held in three phases until November 4. KIDP is participating in the first phase, which runs until October 19 and covers manufacturing sectors such as electronics and home appliances, vehicles and parts, machinery, and energy. The institute aims to promote the entry of Korean design companies into the Chinese market through this participation.

Since opening its China office in 2013, KIDP has operated the Korean Design Pavilion at the Canton Fair every year. Starting two years ago, the institute expanded beyond simple product exhibitions by launching the "Design Market Pioneers" program, selecting promising design companies with strong global competitiveness and supporting them with local market trends and information, export training, business consultations, and networking opportunities.

This year, ten leading Korean design companies were selected: Graphic Design, Designby, Dpartners, Virus Design, BKID, Second White, Celsenkorea, U2 Design, Intensive, and Found Founded.

During the event, these companies will introduce their areas of expertise and major project cases, and present a design showcase. Through these activities, Korean design companies aim to broaden opportunities to secure collaboration projects and design service contracts with manufacturers in China and other overseas markets.

Even after the event, KIDP plans to provide follow-up support such as legal consultations needed for contract signing, ensuring that participation leads to tangible results.

Yoon Sangheum, President of KIDP, stated, "We will continue to expand practical support so that our design companies can establish themselves as competitive partners in China and other overseas markets."
