Yeongju, Sangju, Gimcheon, Yecheon, Bonghwa, Mungyeong... Baekdudaegan Trekking 'Trail 6 Challenge'
Jointly Hosted by North Gyeongsang Province and Yeongju City:
Relay Trekking Across Six Cities and Counties
"A New Forest Tourism Model Connecting Nature and Tourism"
The "Trail 6 Challenge," an adventurous journey connecting the Baekdudaegan mountain range in North Gyeongsang Province, will kick off its first event in Yeongju on October 25.
This event is a Baekdudaegan relay trekking program jointly hosted by North Gyeongsang Province and Yeongju City, and organized by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Organization. It will tour six cities and counties in the province (Yeongju, Sangju, Gimcheon, Yecheon, Bonghwa, and Mungyeong) and is scheduled to run from October through December.
Participants will walk along the representative forest resources of each region, experiencing both the beautiful nature of the Baekdudaegan in North Gyeongsang Province and the unique appeal of trekking.
The Yeongju segment will be held on October 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., covering a total distance of 11.9 kilometers (approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes). The course starts at the Jukryeong Visitor Center, passes through the Second Yeonhwabong Peak, Yeonhwabong Peak, and Heebang Waterfall, and finishes at the Heebang Visitor Center.
Although the trekking section is classified as advanced difficulty, participants with intermediate or lower skill levels can opt for a round-trip course that returns from a midpoint, allowing everyone to enjoy the event safely according to their fitness level.
Registration is available in advance through the event information website. Participants can choose between the "ticket type" (individual participation on site) and the "package type" (group travel departing from Seoul).
Package participants will visit the Punggi Ginseng Festival venue after the trail event, where they can enjoy ginseng shopping and dinner before returning home.
