Nationwide Population and Housing Census Begins on the 22nd
Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province (Mayor: Yuk Donghan) has opened a Statistics Situation Room to ensure the smooth implementation of the 2025 Population and Housing Census.

With the opening of this Situation Room, Chuncheon City has completed systematic preparations for all stages of the census, including enumerator training, handling public inquiries, and supporting survey management. The city plans to mobilize all administrative resources to secure accurate and reliable statistics. The Situation Room will be headed by Deputy Mayor Hyun Juntae.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Population and Housing Census, which will be conducted nationwide simultaneously starting on October 22. From October 22 to October 31, the survey will be conducted via the internet and telephone, and from November 1 to November 18, it will be conducted through in-person visits. The reference time for the survey is 12:00 a.m. on November 1. The census will cover 55 items for both Koreans and foreigners residing in dwellings within 20% of the sample survey districts in the territory of the Republic of Korea.
The use of administrative data has been expanded and tablet PCs have been introduced to improve accuracy and convenience. Respondents' personal information will be strictly protected in accordance with the Statistics Act. The collected data will serve as fundamental resources for national policy formulation and evaluation, academic research, and private sector management across society.
