Nexen Tire to Supply Original Equipment Tires for Kia EV5
Nexen Tire announced on October 13 that it will supply its premium SUV tire, the Roadian GTX, and its ultra-high-performance summer tire, the N'Fera Sport, as original equipment (OE) tires for Kia's electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the EV5.
The Roadian GTX is an all-season SUV tire designed for year-round driving performance and will be fitted to vehicles sold in North America and South Korea. The N'Fera Sport is a high-performance summer tire emphasizing high-speed driving and braking power, and will be supplied to meet the specific needs of the European market.
Nexen Tire has incorporated design features tailored to electric vehicles into both products being supplied this time. To address torque steer-a phenomenon where the vehicle pulls to one side during rapid acceleration due to high output-the company applied its proprietary pattern design (TSPD) system.
Additionally, by optimizing the distribution of pattern block stiffness, Nexen Tire enhanced road grip to prevent wheel slip. The company also introduced an 'in-out multi-sequence' design, which finely arranges the tire blocks to disperse road noise and ensure the quietness characteristic of electric vehicles.
Nexen Tire currently supplies original equipment tires for all major models in Kia's EV series, from the EV3 to the EV9. Among domestic tire manufacturers, Nexen Tire supplies the widest range of original equipment tires for Korean electric vehicle models, and plans to further strengthen its collaborations with global automakers in the field of electrification.
A Nexen Tire representative stated, "The supply of original equipment tires for the Kia EV5 demonstrates that our products deliver reliable performance even in the era of electrification. Moving forward, we will continue to reinforce our position in the global market based on an integrated product strategy that provides outstanding performance for both electric and internal combustion engine vehicles."
