Sharing the Latest Technologies in AI Semiconductors, Healthcare, and More
The Gwangju City Government announced on October 12 that, together with the Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Project Group, it will host the global artificial intelligence (AI) academic conference, "Global AI Conference (AICON) Gwangju 2025," at the Kimdaejung Convention Center from October 15 to 16.
Now in its fifth year, this conference will be held under the theme "The AX Wave, Gwangju," presenting the vision that Gwangju will lead the wave of "AI Transformation (AX)" that fundamentally changes industries and citizens' daily lives.
The opening ceremony will begin with a welcome speech by Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung, followed by an AI-composed and piano collaboration performance. Notably, on October 15, the city will sign the "Gwangju-Style AI Business Agreement" with 10 AI companies, raising expectations for the creation of an AI semiconductor ecosystem and the generation of new local jobs.
The keynote speeches will feature Kim Jin Hyung, Professor Emeritus at KAIST, and Yoo Youngjin, Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), who will share insights on domestic AI industry policy and the AI ecosystem. There will also be a special lecture examining AI policy trends in Korea, China, and Singapore, as well as a special panel discussion on how to realize the "AI for All" project.
In conjunction with the conference, the "AI Tech Plus (TECH+) 2025" innovation technology exhibition will take place from October 15 to 17, allowing citizens to experience a variety of AI technologies firsthand, including AI semiconductors, cloud computing, drones, and healthcare.
