Pyeon Jangwan Appointed as 10th President of Korea National University of Arts
On October 2, the government announced the appointment of Pyeon Jangwan, professor at the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, as the 10th president of Korea National University of Arts.
The term of office for the new president, Pyeon Jangwan, is four years, lasting until October 1, 2029.

In the election held on June 25, Korea National University of Arts selected Professor Pyeon Jangwan as the presidential candidate, with a high voting rate of 65.2%, with participation from students, faculty, and staff. Following a recommendation by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the President officially appointed him as the new president.
Pyeon Jangwan, the new president, graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Chung-Ang University and the Department of Film Theory at New York University's Graduate School of Arts. He joined Korea National University of Arts as a professor in the Department of Film in 1995 and has held major positions such as Dean of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia and Dean of Academic Affairs. He has also served as President of the Korea Society of Image Technology, International Academic Director of the Korean Film Society, and Board Member of the Busan International Film Festival. He is recognized for his significant contributions to enhancing the international standing of Korea’s film industry.
