JW Kim Joungho Foundation to Select "2025 Basic Scientist Scholarship" Recipients
The JW Kim Joungho Foundation, a public interest foundation of JW Pharmaceutical, announced on October 1 that it is accepting applications for the "2025 Basic Scientist Scholarship" until October 31 to help create a stable research environment for researchers in the field of basic science.
The "Basic Scientist Scholarship" is a program that supports researchers with housing rental fees (monthly rent) so they can focus solely on their research without the burden of living expenses. This program, the first of its kind planned by the domestic pharmaceutical industry, has been running for six years and has supported a total of 56 scholars to date. Last year, 12 researchers were selected and received housing support.
Eligible applicants are Korean researchers in the field of basic science (life science, medical engineering, or medicinal chemistry) who are enrolled in a combined master's and doctoral program for at least three years or are currently in a doctoral program, either in Korea or abroad. Researchers residing overseas are also eligible. Applicants must submit the required documents-including a research essay, a future growth plan, and a research proposal-by email to the JW Kim Joungho Foundation.
The foundation plans to announce the final list of successful candidates on December 4, after a document screening and in-depth interviews. Successful applicants will receive support for housing rental fees for up to three years, within an annual limit of 8 million won, taking into account the duration of research for degree acquisition.
