Pursuing Integrated Management of Environmental, Safety, and Energy Certifications
S-Oil has received international recognition for meeting global energy management standards at its Ulsan Onsan Plant.
On October 1, S-Oil announced that its Onsan Plant officially obtained ISO 50001 certification, the international standard for energy management systems set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), on the 25th of last month. The Korea Quality Foundation conducted the assessment. Under the leadership of management, companies set targets, verify performance, and carry out ongoing improvement activities, enabling them to reduce both energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions simultaneously.
S-Oil began full-scale implementation of its energy management system last year, leading to this certification. Through this, the company expects to enhance energy efficiency and cost competitiveness at the Onsan Plant while reducing energy intensity.
Shim Hwansung, Head of the Factory Innovation and Adjustment Division, stated, "This certification marks a significant advancement in our company’s energy management system," adding, "We will continue to actively pursue energy efficiency and the enhancement of ESG values in the future."
