Indonesian Crew Member in His 20s Dies After Falling Overboard Near Maemuldo, Tongyeong

View original imageAt around 3:23 p.m. on September 30, a crew member in his 20s, identified as A, fell overboard from a 6.16-ton coastal composite fishing vessel registered in Tongyeong while operating near Maemuldo, Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province.
The Tongyeong Coast Guard received a report through the DSC distress signal button installed on the vessel's radio and urgently dispatched to the scene.
A was rescued by a fellow crew member, but when the Coast Guard arrived, he was unconscious and not breathing.
He was urgently transported to Daepo Port in Geoje and then transferred to a hospital by the 119 emergency medical team waiting at the port, but ultimately passed away.
A, an Indonesian national, had departed from Donam Port at around 5 a.m. that day and was working with an octopus pot near Maemuldo at the time of the accident.
