To incorporate these principles throughout its administration, Seongnam City has outlined the following strategies: achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (Net-Zero) in the environmental sector; eliminating safety accidents, solitary deaths, and youth violence (3-Zero) in the social and safety sector; and creating a fair society without gaps (Gap-Zero) in the governance sector.
To strategically implement these goals, the city is carrying out several initiatives, including operating an ESG Citizen Academy; launching a project to reduce cooking fumes at 100 facilities used by vulnerable groups such as daycare centers and senior centers; signing a "Youth Violence Zero City" business agreement with the Seongnam Office of Education and the Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang Police Stations; operating 23 Seongnam Resource Circulation Stores; and conducting Tancheon ownership projects such as river cleanup and harmful plant removal activities involving 26 companies and volunteer organizations.
The ESG vision, strategies, and implementation tasks were made public through a ceremony in which 12 individuals-including Mayor Shin Sangjin, Yang Okkyung (Chairperson of the Seongnam City ESG Activation Committee), National Assembly members, city council members, and heads of companies and related organizations-stood on stage, pressed the vision proclamation button, and played a related video.
Approximately 1,800 citizens who attended the event participated in a card section performance, expressing their support for and commitment to the ESG vision.
