Shinhan Life to Pursue Practical Work Improvements Using AI
Shinhan Life announced on September 30 that it has concluded its 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ideathon' event, which was led by frontline employees to discover new ideas and drive work innovation. The company now plans to pursue practical improvements in work processes using AI.
The AI Ideathon, held under the theme 'Adding AI to My Work,' was a contest in which non-developer employees directly presented and competed with ideas for applying generative AI services, work automation tools, and no-code tools to their daily work.
This event brought together around 100 employees across 37 teams from Shinhan Life. It began on August 26 with training on 'AI Use Cases and Development Tools' and continued for three days. Each team's submitted ideas were evaluated by relevant departments based on criteria such as practical relevance, creativity, technical appropriateness, and expected benefits. The winning entries were selected this month, and the awards ceremony took place the previous day.
The grand prize went to the General Affairs Team, which proposed the 'Procurement AI Co-Pilot.' This idea was highly praised for its potential to improve the efficiency and objectivity of work processes by automating routine tasks and assessing the appropriateness of purchase amounts using AI, thereby addressing issues in current procurement requests, proposals, evaluations, and purchase amount analysis.
Looking ahead, Shinhan Life expects to strategically utilize the time saved through work automation and to reduce procurement costs by strengthening negotiation power based on data. The company plans to gradually implement each team's ideas into its 2026 business plan, depending on their feasibility and expected impact.
