Mobile Identification Service Switches to Disaster Recovery System... "Operating Normally"
The mobile identification service is currently operating normally for most functions, with only a few exceptions.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 28th that it has resumed operation of its mobile identification service by switching to a disaster recovery (DR) system.

However, for those who received their mobile identification after 1:00 a.m. on the 26th, normal use will be possible only after the Daejeon Center of the National Information Resources Service is restored. While the disaster recovery system is in operation, all new issuances and reissuances of mobile identification, as well as submission functions related to financial transactions for certain IDs such as the mobile National Veterans Registration Card, are restricted.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation explained that, although there are no functional issues with launching new issuance and reissuance services, they have decided to activate these services immediately after the Daejeon headquarters of the National Information Resources Service is normalized, in order to ensure data integrity.
Users who received their mobile identification through private apps such as Samsung Wallet, KakaoBank, Naver, Toss, KB Star Banking, or NH All One Bank, rather than through the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, can use all submission functions related to financial transactions regardless of the type of identification.
The mobile identification service is used to verify an individual's identity. The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation has proactively established a disaster recovery system in preparation for the possibility of prolonged service disruptions.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation completed the switch to its own data center (implementation of the disaster recovery system) at around 3:10 a.m. on the previous day (the 27th), making normal service possible.
According to the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, the mobile identification service is designed as a decentralized system that stores important identity information on individual devices, allowing for a relatively faster transition to the disaster recovery system compared to a centralized system.
