It is scheduled to open in January next year. The interior will feature a children's reading room, a general reading room, a multimedia reference room, and a youth cultural center.
The newly chosen name reflects the local area while also incorporating the origin of the place name, which means "the shape of a reclining cow." The city added that the name also embodies the symbolism of abundance, relaxation, and learning, as well as a sense of admiration associated with the region.
Earlier this month, the city conducted an online survey through the Hwaseong Citizen Policy Plaza to finalize the name. In the survey, 2,874 out of a total of 6,837 participants, or 42.1%, selected "Bongdam Wau Library."
The city plans to use this naming decision as an opportunity to launch a variety of opening celebration programs and citizen participation events.
