Seodaemun-gu Launches University Student Volunteer Group "U9"
Students from Nine Universities Join Local Volunteer Initiatives
Seodaemun-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 23rd that the "University Student Volunteer Group U9," consisting of about 50 university students currently enrolled or residing in the district, recently held its inauguration ceremony and was officially launched.

View original image"U9" is a name symbolizing the nine universities within Seodaemun-gu. The members plan to engage in activities such as youth academic and career mentoring, environmental improvement and climate crisis response, and initiatives to foster love for neighbors, all based on the creative and voluntary participation of the younger generation.
The inauguration ceremony was held on the 20th in the district office’s Planning Situation Room, featuring the volunteer group’s pledge and team-based networking programs. The members reaffirmed their commitment by pledging to "create a warm and happy community where we live together through sharing and action."
Additionally, Kim Nanhee, CEO of the youth social innovation company Switch On, shared examples of youth volunteer projects, and the members discussed directions for volunteer activities that they could plan and participate in themselves in the future.
