Police to Increase Child Safety Guardians... "Strengthening Safety Measures on School Routes"
Efforts to Prevent the Abduction and Luring of Minors
The police announced on September 23 that they will increase the number of child safety guardians by 410 and deploy them intensively, following a series of abduction and luring incidents targeting minors near schools.
Child safety guardians are retired personnel who conduct patrols and other safety activities in areas near schools with high foot traffic among children. This system is operated under the supervision of local police committees in each city and province nationwide, with guardians selected and assigned on a yearly basis.
They assist with public safety in various fields, including child protection, crime prevention, traffic safety, and guiding youth away from delinquency. There have been cases where they have contributed to the apprehension of actual offenders.
