Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Meeting Between South Korea, the US, and Japan to Be Held in New York on the Sidelines of the UN General Assembly on September 22
The foreign ministers of South Korea, the United States, and Japan will hold a trilateral meeting on the afternoon of September 22 (local time) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States. This is the first such meeting in about two months since July.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the upcoming trilateral foreign ministers' meeting will be attended by Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi. The three officials are expected to discuss cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan.
This marks the first time in about two months that the foreign ministers of the three countries are meeting again, following their previous trilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the ASEAN-related foreign ministers' meetings in Malaysia last July. At that time, however, First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoonjoo attended in place of the foreign minister. This will be the first such meeting since Minister Cho officially took office.
