Donghae City to Recruit 89 Forest Fire Monitors for Autumn and Spring Seasons
Donghae City in Gangwon Province will recruit and deploy forest fire monitors from autumn 2025 through spring 2026 to prevent and control wildfires.
The city plans to operate the program from November 1 to December 15, 2025, and then continue with the same workers from February 1 to May 15, 2026, without a separate selection process.
This deployment will consist of a total of 89 forest fire monitors: 6 people at 6 lookout towers including Chorokbong, 81 people at 60 day-and-night forest fire watch posts in vulnerable areas, and 2 people assigned to 2 night patrol routes.
The application distribution and submission period will be held over two days, from September 29 to 30. Applications for day-and-night forest fire monitors will be accepted at the relevant administrative welfare centers and the Tourism Division, while applications for lookout tower and night patrol positions will be received at the Greenery Division of City Hall. The selection process will include not only a document review but also a job performance evaluation such as a physical fitness test, in accordance with operational regulations, to ensure the most suitable candidates for forest fire monitoring are selected.
The selected forest fire monitors will be responsible for wildfire monitoring and prevention activities, managing visitors in restricted mountain access areas, and cracking down on illegal burning, serving as the front line in wildfire prevention efforts.
