Kim Taejin, a member of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju (representing Gwangcheon-dong, Dongcheon-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, Yudeok-dong, and Chipyeong-dong), announced on September 18 that the 'Proposal to Extend Gwangju City Bus Transfer Time to One Hour,' which he recently sponsored at the 333rd temporary session of the Seo-gu Council, has been adopted.

View original imageThe transfer time for Gwangju city buses is currently only 30 minutes, causing inconvenience such as additional fare payments when the transfer time is exceeded. Currently, the average bus interval is 10 minutes for express buses, 15 to 20 minutes for trunk lines, and 20 to 30 minutes for branch and community routes. These intervals become even longer on holidays and during school vacations.
Additionally, transfers on the same route are generally not allowed except for certain sections, and are only possible on routes with split destinations.
Kim stated, "For the 'Daejabo City' policy, which Gwangju is actively pursuing, to be a policy that residents can truly feel, it is necessary to extend the transfer time for public transportation users from the current 30 minutes to one hour. The restriction on transfers within the same route should also be abolished."

Through the proposal submitted that day, Seo-gu Council members urged the government and the National Assembly to expand the city bus transfer time from the current 30 minutes to 60 minutes, and to abolish the restriction on transfers within the same route. The adopted proposal will be delivered to the Presidential Office, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the National Assembly, each political party, and relevant government ministries.
