First Local Government Launches 'AI Advancement Council'... Busan City and Naver Cloud to Accelerate Busan-Style AI Services
Busan City has become the first local government to launch an Artificial Intelligence Advancement Council.
On September 18, Busan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced that it will hold the "1st Busan City-Naver Cloud Artificial Intelligence (AI) Advancement Council" at 4 p.m. on the 22nd at the Ballroom Hall of Grand Josun Busan in Haeundae District.
The event will be attended by Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan City, Lim Taegun, Executive Director of Naver Cloud, as well as city officials, representatives from over 20 local IT companies, and about 100 participants from universities and public institutions.
This council is a follow-up to the "Business Agreement for Implementing Busan-Style Intelligent Administration" signed between Busan City and Naver Cloud last April. As a collaborative platform involving the public sector, private companies, and academia, it will operate based on four key pillars: co-growth with local IT companies, strengthening the data ecosystem, nurturing professional talent, and innovating public services.
The event will feature four sessions: a presentation on Busan City's progress in AI-driven administrative innovation, Naver Cloud's strategic proposals for AI transformation (AX) in the public sector, technology presentations by local IT companies, and sharing of research achievements by local universities. Following these sessions, an open networking session will be held to discuss the future direction for Busan-style AI services and specific areas for collaboration.
Through the operation of the council, the city plans to share its achievements in data collection, refinement, and acquisition of training data carried out in the first half of the year, and to expand administrative innovation outcomes that citizens can directly experience. The city also aims to institutionalize the council, systematically promoting AI-based administrative service innovation, joint research and demonstration projects, strengthening industry-academia-research networks, and nurturing professional talent. Through these efforts, Busan plans to establish a regionally collaborative AI industry ecosystem and create new future industries.
