According to the Jeonnam Police Agency on September 17, Jeonnam police have begun "special preventive activities" through October 2, following a series of attempted abductions and luring of minors near elementary schools in other regions, which has heightened concerns among local parents and the community.
Police will strengthen patrols by deploying local and traffic police, as well as mobile patrol and riot units, around schools and school routes where children frequently commute during arrival and dismissal times. In addition, the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team will inspect crime-prone factors around schools and work with relevant agencies to implement facility improvements and other measures.
The police will also expand child safety activities in close cooperation with not only schools and local governments, but also community organizations such as the Green Mothers Association and volunteer crime prevention groups.
Furthermore, they are conducting public awareness campaigns, including crime prevention education and distributing informational materials to parents.
