Mokwon University announced on September 17 that Professor Jeon Saebom from the Department of Marketing Big Data has been selected for the '2025 Mid-Career Research Project under the Individual Basic Research Program' by the National Research Foundation of Korea, and will receive research funding.
The Mid-Career Research Project under the Individual Basic Research Program is a type of national research support initiative that aims to foster creative individual research, strengthen the basic research capabilities of mid-career researchers, and help them grow into leading scholars.
Following this selection, Professor Jeon will receive a total of 195 million won in research funding (65 million won per year) until August 2028.
Professor Jeon will conduct research based on the project titled 'A Study on Multidimensional Regression Associations and Dynamic Latent Trajectory Models: Focusing on Imbalanced Multivariate Mixed Sleep Data.'
This study aims to examine how complex sleep factors influence each other and change over time, and to establish an analytical system that enables classification of sleep types, tracking of pattern changes, and early prediction of high-risk groups. The anticipated outcomes of the research include improvements in public health and quality of life, as well as advancements in policy and services.
As a result of Professor Jeon's project being selected, students from the Department of Marketing Big Data have also gained opportunities to participate in the research. Over the past five years, 24 students from the department have taken part in Professor Jeon's research projects, receiving scholarships totaling 80 million won and gaining diverse experience in data analysis, research, and the preparation of reports for public institutions.
Mokwon University explained that such activities will serve as valuable assets (career experience) for students preparing to advance to graduate school or seek employment at national research institutes and other organizations.
