Gochang County to Demolish Shinlim Overpass, a Frequent Site of Traffic Accidents
Improvement of the Entrance Intersection
Construction to Be Completed by May Next Year
The Shinlim Overpass, located on the road near Shinlim Elementary School in Beopji-ri, Shinlim-myeon, Gochang County, will be demolished.
According to the county on September 17, the Shinlim Overpass, which was installed in 1996 to ensure the safety of students and residents, has frequently caused traffic accidents due to obstructed visibility. Currently, it is an unused and abandoned facility that acts as an obstacle to road traffic.

In response, Gochang County applied to the Jeonju National Land Management Office in April 2021 for a project to improve hazardous roads and bottleneck points.
After holding a briefing session for residents, the Jeonju National Land Management Office plans to demolish the Shinlim Overpass-a long-standing wish of Shinlim-myeon residents-and improve the entrance intersection to Shinlim-myeon starting in September 2025.
The project will cost 694 million won, with detailed design work beginning in May 2025 and construction scheduled for completion by May of the following year.
