Celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of World Heritage Inscription
A Rich Array of Nighttime Media Art and Associated Events

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol) will launch the '2025 National Heritage Media Art Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli' event at the Jisandong Tumuli in Goryeong on September 19.

This event is co-hosted by the National Heritage Administration, North Gyeongsang Province, and Goryeong County, with the National Heritage Promotion Agency serving as the organizer.

The event will be held for 24 days from September 19 to October 12 in the area surrounding the Daegaya Museum, operating daily from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. During this period, the Daegaya Museum will also open at night, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of Gaya cultural content.

The Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli is a historic site that reveals the true nature of the ancient Daegaya kingdom. Since being inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, it has hosted major cultural events, including the World Heritage Festival.

This year's media art theme is 'Daegaya, Twelve Stars.' The event will reinterpret the glory of Daegaya, as captured in the Jisandong Tumuli and in the twelve Gayageum pieces composed by the Daegaya musician Ureuk, through media art. The content will be centered around three main programs, with a variety of media artworks installed throughout the surrounding spaces to create a mystical nighttime landscape.

A range of side events is also planned, including: ▲ the 2nd Anniversary Ceremony for World Heritage inscription (September 23), ▲ Drone Light Show (September 23), ▲ Regular Performance by the County Gayageum Orchestra (September 24), ▲ Daegaya Culture and Arts Festival (September 27), ▲ Daegaya History Talk Concert (September 27), ▲ Gayatgo Music Festival (October 2), ▲ The Candle in Goryeong (October 3), and ▲ Gaya Tumuli Bubble Show (October 11).

In particular, the 2nd Anniversary Ceremony for World Heritage inscription on September 23 will feature a drone light show, a large drum and drawing performance, and other cultural performances blended with media art, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

An official from the county stated, "This event commemorates both the second anniversary of the Jisandong Tumuli's World Heritage inscription and the first anniversary of Daegaya's designation as an ancient capital. We hope it will provide visitors with an opportunity to experience and enjoy Gaya culture in new ways."
