Busan Port Authority Holds Policy Meeting with Arctic Shipping Route Experts
Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, held a policy meeting with Arctic shipping route experts at the BPA headquarters on September 15. This initiative was part of BPA's active response to the government's major national agenda, "Establishing Korea as a Leading Maritime Power in the Era of Arctic Shipping Routes."
This meeting brought together four organizations, including BPA, the Korea Maritime Institute, the Korea Polar Research Institute, and the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering. The focus was on sharing information and analyzing the current status of the Arctic shipping route to establish a comprehensive strategy.
Key topics discussed included sharing Arctic sea ice prediction data, building eco-friendly icebreakers, analyzing policy trends related to the Arctic shipping route, and commercializing BPA's eco-friendly fuel bunkering terminal project. The need for a swift and comprehensive strategy centered on Busan Port was strongly emphasized.
