Korea Shipowners’ Association Forms Arctic Route Task Force to Support Pilot Operations
The Korea Shipowners’ Association announced on September 11 that it has formed an 'Arctic Route Task Force (TF)' in line with the government's Arctic route strategy.
The task force plans to support pilot operations of domestic shipping companies on the Arctic route through a fund of 5 billion won, which was raised independently by member companies. Specifically, it aims to back pilot operation research on the Arctic route, studies on the application of icebreakers and small modular reactors (SMRs), and the collection of atmospheric, oceanic, and route operation data.
