The Metal Craftsman of the Year Award was established in 2013 to support the creative activities of talented metal craft artists and to promote the development of contemporary metal craft in South Korea. Korea Zinc has sponsored this award every year, and since 2023, the company has been directly responsible for both the open call and hosting the event.

Korea Zinc accepted submissions for five days, from the 5th until today. Eligible applicants are contemporary metal craft or jewelry artists under the age of 45 who hold South Korean nationality. Artists or teams who have been actively producing work over the past 10 years were allowed to apply.

Korea Zinc plans to conduct a document review and in-person evaluations through next month before selecting two final awardees. Each winner will receive a prize of 10 million won and an opportunity to participate in a special exhibition. The award ceremony and the opening of the special exhibition are scheduled for December 17.

A Korea Zinc representative said, "Korea Zinc has consistently supported the Metal Craftsman of the Year Award as part of our social contribution to the advancement of culture and the arts," adding, "We will continue to support the development of contemporary metal craft in South Korea and help outstanding artists sustain their creative activities."
