KOSPI Hits All-Time High... Chairman Jung Eunbo: "A New Starting Line in Capital Market History"
Jung Eunbo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange (KRX), stated on the 10th that the KOSPI index reaching an all-time high for the first time in four years and two months "will mark a new starting line in the history of the capital market."
On this day, Chairman Jung held a commemorative ceremony with executives and employees at the KRX headquarters in Busan, saying, "I believe that today's record-breaking high carries the symbolic meaning of 'overcoming' the Korea Discount."

View original imageHe emphasized, "Since its inception in 1983, KOSPI has served as the thermometer of our economy and the representative index of the capital market," adding, "Despite challenging economic conditions, KOSPI has recorded the highest growth rate among the G20 countries so far this year."
He continued, "This is the result of long-standing efforts to restore market confidence, and it will serve as a new starting line in the history of the capital market. The Korea Exchange will do its utmost to prepare for the era of KOSPI 5000." He also stated, "The perspectives of both domestic and foreign investors toward the market are changing, and standby funds are continuously flowing into the stock market. I hope that, like the major stock markets around the world, we will be able to set new record highs every day going forward."
He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the capital market. Chairman Jung declared, "We will continue to encourage listed companies to enhance shareholder value and strengthen market surveillance against unfair trading. We will also ensure the smooth implementation of trading infrastructure innovations, such as 24-hour trading and shorter settlement cycles. Through these efforts, we will do our best to realize the era of KOSPI 5000 as soon as possible."
