Yeongju City to Host "Time Travel Alley Games" in Old Downtown
HuSaeng Market on September 13-14
A Rich Array of Nostalgic Games, Experiences, and Flea Market
Yeongju City announced on September 10 that it will host the "Time Travel in Yeongju - Alley Games with Mom and Dad" experiential event from September 13 to 14 in the HuSaeng Market area of Yeongju 1-dong. This event is part of the "2025 Neighborhood Commercial District Development Project" organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small Enterprise and Market Service, and has been established as a flagship program to revitalize the old downtown commercial district.
The event will feature nostalgic games enjoyed across generations, such as hopscotch, stone-tossing, jegichagi, ttakji-chigi, rubber band jumping, dalgona making, and "Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed." The event is open to families with children aged 5 to 12 and their guardians, with participation based on teams of two.
The experience program will run three times a day (11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.) over the course of two days, with 15 teams recruited per session. The participation fee is 6,000 won per team. Registration is available via the QR code on the event poster, and some on-site registration will also be accepted.
A variety of side events are also planned. At the Modern History and Culture Experience Center and the Red Puppet Theater, participants can make heart-shaped mother-of-pearl dreamcatchers, traditional knot keyrings, and mugs. In the "Graffiti Zone," children can freely draw on building walls. At the flea market (12 booths), Yeongju's local agricultural products and crafts will be on sale, and those who complete the bingo mission will receive commemorative gifts.
In addition, tourists can enjoy modern history experiences and culinary tours of century-old stores and long-standing establishments, allowing them to explore Yeongju's signature attractions and alleys while sampling traditional foods. The city expects this event to establish itself as a tourism content that combines culture, history, and gastronomy, thereby increasing visitor stay time and spending, and contributing to revitalizing the local economy.
