On September 10, Sejong City announced that it has been finally selected for the "2025 Industrial Complex Environmental Improvement Project" contest, which is organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
This contest, targeting aging industrial complexes nationwide, was conducted to improve the environment and outdated image of industrial complexes by introducing design elements and creating green spaces and rest areas for workers. The Jochiwon Industrial Complex, which was ultimately selected, is an aging industrial complex established in 1988 and has been in operation for over 30 years.
With the selection of this project, the creation of a pleasant and vibrant street environment is expected to greatly contribute to improving the quality of life for local workers as well as enhancing the image of the industrial complex.
The city plans to implement major projects to improve the living environment, including: ▲creating a landscaped street (460 meters) through street maintenance, ▲installing landmarks such as an art wall, and ▲establishing rest areas and small parks for workers.
The total project budget is 2.86 billion won, of which 2 billion won, or 70%, will be funded by the national government. The project will be carried out in phases over three years, from this year until 2028.
