During the campaign, participants of the council delivered messages to students on their way to school, emphasizing the importance of preventing school violence and encouraging everyone to contribute to fostering a healthy school culture. This activity is expected to serve as a foundation for the council’s future joint prevention initiatives and the establishment of a support system.
The launch ceremony was attended by Mayor Bang Sehwan, Oh Seongae, Superintendent of the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education, Noh Dongyeol, Chief of the Gyeonggi Gwangju Police Station, as well as representatives from the Parent Police, Green Mothers’ Association, Volunteer Police, Gwangju Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, 1388 Youth Support Group, and other nine organizations. They read a declaration of commitment and reaffirmed their shared determination to eradicate school violence.
This council was formed to go beyond individual responses by each organization and to establish a practical cooperative system in which education, administration, law enforcement, and citizens are organically connected. Moving forward, regular meetings will be held to share trends in school violence, conduct joint campaigns, and discuss concrete implementation measures such as linking psychological counseling and healing programs.
Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "Gwangju City places the safety and happiness of our children as the top priority," and emphasized, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the council, and together with related organizations and citizens, we will build a robust safety net to create a city free from school violence."
